Client: A large regional bank in Illinois
Project Area: Human Resources
Project Summary: For our client, the creation of a standardized, comprehensive portfolio of job descriptions for their organization was a perpetual back burner project. The longer they waited the bigger the task became. Even though they had a sizable HR staff, the project became so big that a single individual could not handle it, but they did not want to add staff to get this project done. At the time that the client approached the Beaird Group, there were less than 100 existing job descriptions for over 250 positions
Project Detail: the Beaird Group worked with the client to develop a completely customized process to capture data and create standardized accurate job descriptions for all positions bank wide including Senior Management positions.
This process included development of:
- A questionnaire to capture information necessary to create the descriptions
- A template to capture both the content and the visual layout
- A workflow plan to fully utilize available team members and move multiple descriptions forward simultaneously
- An internal communications tool to enable all team members to update status of all job descriptions daily
- An external communication plan to provide the client with regular updates of individual and departmental status, deadlines and costs
Over the course of nine months, our team completed 245 job descriptions. As office space was an issue, our team was able to complete this project remotely. Upon completion, the client was presented with several binders with hard copies of every completed job description by department and soft copies of the entire portfolio as well.
For several years after the completion of the initial phase of this project, the Beaird Group was responsible for the creation of all new job descriptions and any edits to existing job descriptions. |
