Beaird Team in the Community.
Organization: DuPage County Convalescent Center
Involvement: The DuPage Convalescent Center provides quality long-term care as well as short-term rehabilitative services to DuPage County residents. The center has a total of 360 beds, with approximately 80% occupied by Public Aid recipients. Shay Olson, a Beaird Group consultant, has been a registered volunteer for the last 13 years. She started by organizing groups from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Naperville to assist with the worship services. Most of the residents are wheelchair-bound so her group transports residents to and from the worship services. Shay continues to organize these groups each month and serves as a coordinator to recruit volunteers and provide information about the center. Want to volunteer? Click here for details.
Involvement: Sheila Sarovich – Senior Consultant at Beaird Group served as former Board President. The solution to end homelessness is more complex than providing individuals with food and shelter. Founded in 1985, DuPagePads is the largest provider of interim and permanent housing, coupled with support services in order to help individuals work toward becoming self-sufficient. These vital support services enable the individuals we help to receive case management and life coaching, employment support such as GED courses and job coaching, as well as engagement with employers—effectively stopping the cycle of homelessness. DuPagePads IS the solution to end homelessness—because when someone believes in you, everything can change.
